Monday George and Alan went to Tanga to work on the container's release. It's a two hour bus ride there and they had a lot to do. After they paid part of the fees, the port officials opened the container and began going through it with a fine tooth comb. Everything was pulled out. The health inspector was there and she was brutal. They took out random, silly things (like used, but clean, socks and certain toiletries) and said they have to penalize us for them and will remove those items and burn them (which we know is not true. They will sell them, keep them or give them away). It seems like the port officials are trying to get more money out of us and are giving us a hard time.
Alan and George have to go back Tuesday to hopefully finish the process. They have more running around to do and the remainder of the balance to pay. If everything goes well, it will be delivered on Wednesday.
Keep up the prayers!

I am praying for forgiveness for my super rock hard heart for the authorities in Africa. This makes my blood boil!

Ya know . . . this is a lesson learned. Next time, maybe we need to include things Africans value so you can "gift" them during inspection. If they get something they like, they might leave the stuff you need alone. Just sayin' Love you, Karen
