Getting Ready to Go

In addition to working on the container and welcoming the team, George and I are getting ready to go back to Kenya for the baby's delivery. We also have to leave because we don't have work permits yet and can only be in the country for 90 days at a time. Because George went to Kenya twice since we have been here, his visa is not an urgent issue, but mine is. I have to leave the country on July 30th. In April when we were returning to Kenya after our visit to Korogwe, a woman on our bus was put in jail by immigration because she overstayed her visa by 1 day. Yikes!

Our plan is to leave Korogwe on July 25th when the team does. They will be going to Moshi for a week to work with another orphanage there and then they will be returning to the US. When we get to Moshi, I'll visit the immigration office there to see if I can extend my visa by a couple days. If I can, we'll be able to join the team for a day safari on the 31st and leave the same day they do (August 1st).

So, this week will be nuts as we finish up in Korogwe for a couple months. The good thing is we found someone to stay at our house. Lulu will be here with Nala. Now we just have to pack for two months in Kenya. Everything thing we need for ourselves and the baby needs to be ready to go in as little luggage as possible. It will be a challenge!
