Mercy Said Yes*

One of the highlights of our trip to Nairobi was seeing Mercy. Mercy was the cook where we worked in Sudan. It has been a year and a half since we have seen her and it was a wonderful reunion. I just love Mercy. She was the hardest worker in Tonj. She worked from early morning to late at night, cooking all our meals… 7 days a week. She is quiet, sweet and humble. We enjoyed her company over dinner where she got to meet Eli. Hopefully we’ll see her again the next time we are in Nairobi.

* In Sudan, one of the staff members had a song that we all liked on his computer by CeCe Winans called “Mercy Said No”. Since Mercy worked there, we loved to say “Mercy said no” anytime we could work it into the conversation. Someone might ask “are we having cookies with dinner” and the other would say “Mercy said no.” This time, Mercy said yes when we called her to see if she could meet us and we were so glad she did.

  1. I used to love it when Mercy said Yes, because that meant cookies or cake, not jello! I'm so glad you got to see her....I'm sure she is doing great, right?

    Love you guys..

  2. Dear Miss Stacie,
Hi! My name is Kaylee. I am 4. I hope you have a really good day. In Cubbies, I'm learning about Missionaries and my Mom taught me about you. I'm glad you have a baby. I like when babies wiggle. Thank you for being like Paul in the Bible. My Cubbies verse is "He preached Christ in the synagogues." Acts 9:20 I love you. I will see you soon, Bye.
    Love,
    Kaylee

  3. Hi Kaylee!

Thank you for writing me a message... it made my day! When I was little I learned about missionaries in church too. I didn't know that God was going to make me one when I got older! But, our God is so good and has a perfect plan for us. I like your Cubbies verse. Cubbies sounds like a lot of fun and I bet you learn a lot about Jesus. Have a great day today and say hi to your family for me.

    Lots of love from Africa,
    Stacie
