After arriving back in Kisumu Wednesday afternoon, we celebrated George's sister's birthday. In Kenya, the birthday person pays if they have a party which is the opposite of the US where the birthday person is treated by family and/or friends. Suzy took the while family (about 20 of us) to a new Ethiopian restaurant in town. Ethiopian food is served family style. There is a thin spongy bread thing called Ingera used to scoop up the meat and vegetable dishes set out in the middle of the table. I am not a fan of the Ingera, which has a sour taste, but I loved the other dishes they made. In years past, I never would have tried new foods, but now I will try almost anything. I had tried Ethiopian food in Nairobi and didn't like it. I was hesitant to try it again, but I was pleasantly surprised. I heard there was an Ethiopian restaurant in San Diego. For those of you in the area, I suggest you try it!

How things change my dear. You like Ethiopian food now. Still hard for me to believe. Can you imagine if we went out for an office lunch to an Ethiopian restaruant? There would be a rebellion for sure. Love you, Karen
ReplyDeleteHahaha. I would have stopped at Jack N The Box on the way home! (Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich, curly fries and a coke, please!)
