After a day of rest following our Kenya trip, we took a day
trip to nearby waterfalls.
They are
called Marangu Falls and are breathtaking.
Our taxi driver/friend, Eddie, comes from that region so he drove us
there. It was great having him with us
because he knew where to go and how to avoid the people trying to usher us to
the falls (for a fee). It was a nice
walk and descent to the falls which are located at the base of Mount
Kilimanjaro. Poor George carried Eli the
whole way. That little boy is not
light!
Once we arrived there, a student
named Michael gave us a tour of the Chagga cultural museum and escorted us to
the falls.
The mist from the falls felt
so nice.
It was too cold and rough for
swimming, but maybe we can the next time we go.
It was nice to go on a little hike and be outdoors.
My Mom and Al do outdoorsy stuff all the time
so it was cool for them to be able to do that here too.
