Kenya - Part 3

On Thursday we had a great day.  It began with a little souvenir shopping at the Masaai market followed by lunch at Duke of Breeze.  It is a roof top bar and restaurant that overlooks Lake Victoria and also offers free wi-fi, making it a favorite place of ours.

 (Eli got  roof top nap.)

After a delicious lunch, we went to Impala Park.  It’s one of Kenya’s National Parks and is located right on the lake.  The weather was gorgeous and the breeze from the lake felt wonderful.  Impala Park has many hiking trails and animal enclosures.

They also have impalas, zebras and monkeys roaming around free.

One animal under heavy lock and key is the lion.  They have two lion enclosures - one with the females and alpha male and another with the younger males.  In the past, the lions have always been sleeping. This day, however, they were up and about.

We realized that feeding time was close and they were ready for lunch.  One lion slowly walked towards the spot where Al was taking photos and suddenly charged at him, growling and pawing the fence.  If that fence wasn’t there, Al would have been a goner.  He got a great shot of the lion’s face just before the “attack.”

Once they got their food, they settled down to eat.

We had a lovely time at Impala Park.  It felt so nice to be outside in the awesome weather.
