Magic Mountain

Yesterday I went to Magic Mountain with my brother, Derek, and niece, Katryna. It was my birthday gift from my brother and his family. The last time I went there was eight years ago and two things have changed:

1. The new rides they have are INSANE!
2. I am officially old.

I used to be able to go on ride after ride and feel just fine, but a few of those rides worked me! We were lucky, the weather was nice and for a summer day, it was not very crowded. Most rides had a very short or no line. There were three that had "long" lines where we had to wait about 45 minutes. The rest were ten minutes or less. We accomplished a lot in eight hours. We rode all the big rides and a few of the little ones for a total of 18 rides.

Here is a list of the rides we went on:

My favorites:

1. Scream - this was really fun. Lots of twists and very smooth
2. Goliath - awesome drops
3. Apocalypse - The new wooden one replacing Cyclone. Very fast.
4. Superman - They turned the cars around so you go backwards. I love the fast start. They distract you and then start it when you're not expecting it.

Classics:

5. Colossus - an oldie, but a goodie. I love the drops on this, even if it is bumpy
6. Revolution - Bumpy, but a good loop
7. Batman - one of the first with dangling feet - a big deal when it first came out!
8. Riddler's Revenge - one of the first roller coasters you ride while standing up.
9. Log Ride - I love water rides, I just hate getting wet. My shoes were water logged the rest of the day.
10. Ninja - Not worth it if there is a long line.
11. Viper - I love all the upside downs, but it was bumpier than I last remember

Carnival Rides:

12. Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth - I went on it because my niece wanted to. Not my favorite! Spins you around in a giant circle.
13. Scrambler - I love this ride!
14. Flash - cars that go around in a circle. Good for kids

Rides that left me unsettled (I would need to ride them again to fully enjoy them. I just didn't know what to expect and they are so different from the standard roller coasters that I couldn't relax completely and enjoy them. I love thrills and have gone skydiving so I was surprised they made me feel this way. Another sign I am getting old!):

15. X2 - Mind blowing. All roller coaster enthusiasts should ride this. Totally innovative.
16. Tatsu - Terrifying. You are hanging, facing down and flying over the park. Everything about this feels wrong and I couldn't stop thinking about if the harness opened, I would go flying.
17, Green Lantern - Fun, but I almost fainted. We were upside down and twisting around. I never knew which direction we were going. When the ride ended, I could only see black spots. If I had to stand right away, I would have been on the ground
18. Deja Vu - this one you ride twice - forwards and then backwards.

It was a really fun day. We walked all over... I wish I had a pedometer so I could see how much we walked. I really like Magic Mountain and am so glad we went, but it might take another eight years before my body recovers!
