Day of Fun - Take 2

Today Katryna and I hung out again. It was her last day before school starts so we wanted one last hoorah. Our plan was to go to The Wave water park, but they are only open on weekends now so at the last minute we decided to go to the movies instead. We saw Spy Kids 4 which was cute.

The theater we went to was in the Oceanside valley which was where I lived for much of my childhood. Since it had been years since I was in the area, I drove around to see what had changed. I also showed Katryna some of my old residences. We rented and moved seven times. Four of those places are in the valley so I showed them to Katryna.

After the movie, we went to Heritage Park. It's a city park with old Oceanside buildings. It's really cute and I recommend going to it if you haven't yet. They have an old school, church, saloon, jail, newspaper building, general store and other buildings. Our family has a deep history in Oceanside. My grandpa owned a blacksmith shop downtown called Larsen's Steel that was sold in the 70's. My grandma donated a bunch of equipment to the blacksmith shop at Heritage Park. There is a picture of some of my family members there. My grandma volunteered for many years as a docent at the park.

Here are some pictures of Heritage Park:

We ended our day with a stop at Barnes and Nobles and then lunch. I love being an aunt.

  2. Wow! What a trip down memory lane, Stacie...funny how when I saw 791 I remembered Foxwood. I bet Tryna enjoyed the trip! :) We're excited to see you in a few weeks!
