I had a wonderful day on Sunday. It's one of those days that makes me realize my time here is too short. It began with church. The whole service was great. There was a guest worship team that was incredible and the whole place was alive with the spirit. Some of my friends came to support me since I was speaking at church that morning so having them there made it an extra special Sunday. I shared with the church about my time in Sudan and what I will be doing next. My gift is not public speaking and my heart was pounding the whole time, but I got through it.
After the service, there was going to be some people from our church being baptized, including a few kids I know. So, we went to the beach and hung out for a while. I haven't swam in the ocean in a long time and wasn't planning on it since it was freezing. However, I was persuaded and ended up having a blast. Unfortunately, the baptism got started later than I thought and I had to leave before the actual dunking occurred because I had dinner plans.
In the late afternoon, I headed up to the Unland's house with the Lanzones. I had been looking forward to this dinner very much. I have known Steve and Katie Unland since I was 13 and they were on staff with my youth group. They are always so welcoming and I love spending time with them. Megan Lanzone and I have been friends since we were 5 or so and I just cherish her friendship. Whenever we all get together, there is always lots of laughter and good times. This time was no different. The kids had fun playing together and kept us all entertained as well. Katie is the world's best dessert maker and made a beautiful cake to celebrate mine and Megan's birthday which was a few days earlier.
This weekend was so amazing. Filled with family, friends, church, fun and laughter. I am so blessed.
I am so happy you are blogging again! I would read your blogs even if you weren't a missionary going to Africa cuz you are so interesting!!!! Keep posting and I'll read from my couch as you trek through Africa with the Lord (and Geo!)
