We have a huge praise to report. The pastors training went very well despite some logistical issues. We had hoped to train about 20 people who would be willing to volunteer at the medical camp. These people could be pastors or lay persons. Anyone who believes the Bible and is willing to share the gospel message was welcome. When patients leave the medical camp, they have an opportunity to meet with these pastors for prayer and a brief teaching, if they so desire. The pastors use an evangelism method called the evange-cube. It is a simple, visual tool to explain the Message. A week or two before the camp, a two day training is held to ensure that the pastors (or lay persons) are able to teach the gospel. The training is open to any denomination, any persons, young, old, man or woman. API (Agape Project International) is a non-denominational organization. They are not about rounding up people to attend a certain church. They want to ensure that the people in the medical camp have a chance to hear the gospel and then can be led to a strong, Bible believing and teaching church.
We had a few challenges with setting up the training so we didn't know what to expect. George went there (it was held in the church where the medical camp will be.) while I stayed back in town with Eli. 27 people came for the training. They were from many different churches and made up of all ages, stations in life and included both men and women.
George said the teacher (who is trained to do these classes and specializes in the evange-cube), did an awesome job. He began by explaining the purpose of the medical camps and taught a basic version of the gospel. He emphasized that this was not about directing people into one denomination or saying one is better than another. People from all denominations should have the same version of the gospel. So he made sure they were all on the same page. On the second day, they got into the cube training and finished the day by practicing with each other. Each person got a cube to take home.
George said it was so neat to see everyone unified. Many people commented about how much they loved the training. Sometimes people come doing seminars and it's all about converting others to their denomination or soliciting funds. They said they got so much from the training and are excited to help at the camp.
There were some major stresses that happened before the camp. Crying out to God for help was constant on our minds. Once it was over, I just could stop saying "thank you Jesus" over and over. It went so well. We are so thankful.
Now we are praying for good followup from the attendees. We need to have five pastors there during each day of the medical camp. So, please pray they will be faithful to return.
Thank you for your prayers for the training!!!
