Kisumu Home

Since we got married, while we were living in Kisumu, we have stayed with George's family. Since the space is available for any family and friends who need a place to stay, we couldn't really unpack for good or even have a place guaranteed to stay. This month, we knew George's brother and wife were coming to visit and would be staying in the room we usually stay in at George's brother house. So we had to find a place to stay. We didn't know where we would find a place we could afford. Houses, while still cheap compared to the US, were still more than we could afford. Especially since we are paying for our house in Korogwe. Fortunately, God knew our needs and found us the perfect set up. Now, we have a place that we can really unpack. We'll be able to leave our stuff here and stay here whenever we visit from Tanzania.

On Friday evening, George and I officially moved into our new Kisumu home. A friend of ours (you may remember me mentioning Drogba, our friend/motorcycle driver) had a spare room to rent in a house he shares with his aunt. It's the perfect situation for us now. It's a small space, but it's cheap and we can call it our own. We have one room and share the bathroom (yes there is a toilet!) and kitchen. They don't even mind that we'll have a little baby with us.

George got us set up with the major stuff (bed, mattress, etc) last week and yesterday and today, we got the last few basics we'll need for now. It was fun to get our room set up. I now feel more settled. Here are a few photos of our new Kisumu home (room):

It may seem silly to be so excited about a room, but it is a big answer to prayer. It's not any more or less than what we need. It's just right. God is so good like that.

  1. Wow, God is so good....Is He not? We are so glad to hear that you have obtained a place to unpack, stay and work through the upcoming birth of your son. This is wonderful. May God bless those who have allowed you to rent the space! Thank you Lord.
