Yesu Anaweza

Yesterday, we went to church at Pastor Zack’s church. He runs a ministry called Yesu Anaweza (God is Able). While we work on getting the orphanage up and running, we’ll be partnering with him for other ministry work. George preached on serving the Lord and living a Godly life, choosing to trust in him, not other “gods” we have put faith in. He gave an example of putting faith in the wrong thing. After Eli’s vaccinations, we went out for lunch. While we were there, Eli began to get fussy. A lady came over and said “It hurts me to see him cry. If you want to stop it, put some salt in your hand and blow it towards the baby. It will work.” George knew this local wives tale wouldn’t work and obviously didn’t do it. He told the congregation this because many people put faith in local traditions and witch doctors (some say Mt. Kilimanjaro is their god) instead of God.

(Listening to Dad. It was raining so he was bundled up.)

(Good job Dad!)

(By the end of the service, he was tuckered out.)

After the service, George and I spoke with the congregation to share with them our vision for the youth. George will be teaching a discipleship class which focuses on studying the Bible word by word, book by book with the purpose of applying it to our daily lives. I will be meeting with high school and college girls to do a Bible Study, prayer group and accountability group focusing on becoming young women whose lives honor the Lord.

It was a nice Sunday and we were welcomed warmly. We’re excited to work with them and see with the Lord does there.
