Pregnacy Questions Answered

Here are answers to some questions people have been asking...

1. Was this planned? Well, yes and no. Before we got married, we talked about the timing of children. We decided if children were in God's plan for us, we would be blessed to have them whenever He sent them. So, although we didn't plan it, we knew it was a possibility since we did nothing to prevent it.

2. Will you come back to the US to deliver? I wish I could. Financially it's not possible so I will deliver here. George is doing some research to find the best place for me.

3. How is pre-natal care and delivery different than in the US? Pre-natal care consists of simple doctor visits, taking pre-natal pills, and doing lab test and ultrasounds. Deliveries are done in a hospital usually by midwives/nurses. They don't do epidurals and don't allow fathers or family members in during the delivery. The nurses can get rough with the patients if they are frustrated. I will fight to make sure George is there with me the whole time.

4. Are you scared to deliver outside the US? Yes. The US has the best health care and I never imagined I would give birth in another country. Plus, I always assumed I would have an epidural. I have a very low pain threshold. I keep telling myself millions of women all over the world do it so I will be fine. God brought me here so, I am trusting him to get me through this.

4. How are you feeling? Nauseous and tired. Who knew making a placenta zapped so much energy! I am looking forward to completing this trimester. I have been told I should feel better during the second.

5. Any weird pregnancy cravings? Not really. It has been hard to eat anything for the last two months so I am happy if I can get a decent meal down. Actually I have been craving Saltines, Ritz and Wheat Thins. None are here in Kenya. :(

6. Will you find out if it's a boy or girl? Absolutely. As soon as possible. I think it's a girl, George thinks it's a boy.

7. Will the baby be a US or Kenyan citizen? Both. We'll register her/him at the US embassy and get a Kenyan passport too.

8. Can you still do ministry work with a baby? You bet. She/He will be strapped to my back and come with me wherever I go. She'll be a little missionary baby.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!
