Post Wedding Dinner

As a way to say thank you to the family and bridal party that helped us with the wedding, we took them out to a post wedding dinner at the Firm Rock Hotel. We arrived around 6:00 and I could tell, everyone was exhausted. It was also cold. We ordered tea and once every warmed up, the mood lightened.

Unfortunately, the food took a while to cook. Not uncommon here, but I wanted it to come quickly so everyone could eat and go home. While we waited, George had to leave to pick someone up from the bus station. Pastor Herbert, who works with Africa Harvest of Hope and who we stayed with in Tanzania, wanted to come to the wedding. His wife, Emily, made a cake for us that he transported on the bus. He left Tanzania on Friday and should have arrived in Kisumu on Saturday night. On his way, one of his buses was delayed, forcing him to stay in Nairobi and then another broke down and left him stranded for hours (along with the other passengers). I felt so bad. He traveled so far and brought the cake and then missed the wedding. So, when George arrived with him at dinner, I was so happy to see him in Kisumu, safe.

We had a chance to visit with him during dinner and made plans to set up the cake on Monday. George and I thanked everyone for coming and invited them to come over the next day for cake.

Finally around 8:00, the food arrived. We all ate quickly and everyone headed home. It was a long day, but so wonderful and special.
