This morning Gordon and I went to the warehouse where all of our supplies are waiting to be trucked to Sudan. There is so much stuff. I was looking at it thinking, we need those and those and those. Everyone pray the truck can leave soon. We really need many of those items desperately.
This afternoon Gordon dropped me off at Junction, my favorite mall, while he did errands. It's small, but has some of my favorite shops: Mr. Price, Nakkumat, Bata and Java House. I walked around for a couple hours then went to Java for a drink. It was nice to have an afternoon to just walk around alone and have nothing to do.
This evening, Gordon cooked again. This time it was Githeri, another traditional African meal. The previous meal he cooked was from his tribe, the Luals. Tonight's was from the Kikuyu tribe. It was yummy and reminded me of a vegetarian stew.
Our friend who lived with us while first starting his US schooling in the 1970s is a Kikuyu. He is now a minister with the Nairobi Presbyterian Church. Also starting a college for education for the people. Some seminary classes but more general education also.
ReplyDeleteI'd be curious if there would be anyway for you to contact him while in Nairobi. He is Dr. Gerishon M Kirika. He does have an e-mail. gmkirika@yahoo.com.
We are very proud of your dedication to the Lord and your "Just a speck" is HUGE.
Love Aunt Diane
Mmmmm. That looks yummy. Tell Gordon someone in the US thinks he has a great smile. His whole face lights up! Love you, Karen@aloha PS Happy 4th of July! It will be quite different for you this year. Maybe next year in America, eh? :)
ReplyDeleteHi Aunt Diane!
ReplyDeleteI remember him. He is the one who officiated at Becky and Tone's wedding, right? I sent him an email, but it came back to me. Do you have another one for him? Thanks for saying hi and for the encouragement!
Tell everyone I said hi!
Love,
Stacie
