Kisumu Boys Day School

This morning, George and I went to Kisumu Boys Day School to join the Christian Union for their Sunday service. It was such a blessing to be there. There were around 200 boys ranging in age from 13-18. It was so wonderful to hear them sing praises to the Lord. The whole room boomed with their joyful voices. I was greatly encouraged. As they sung, I thought about how there was so much potential in that room. God wants to use each of them and they could be amazing leaders in their homes, schools and community if they stick with God.

I had a few minutes to share with them so I told them what I was thinking. I encouraged them to stay strong and keep walking with the Lord. I told them that though times will be tough, God still loves them and is with them with each step. I then read one of my favorite verses in Philippians (4:6,7) and told them to pray about everything and thank God for what He has done. When we turn our attention to God, it takes our focus off ourselves and our own problems.

After I spoke, George taught from James 2:19-24. He did a great job with these boys. He has a great way of keeping their attention with humor while still getting across the seriousness of the Scripture. George explained that it's not enough to just believe in God - even Satan believes in God, but we must give our lives to Christ and then our life will reflect that. While we are saved by grace alone, faith and acts work together to show our love for the Lord.

It was such an honor and a blessing to be there this morning. I walked away feeling inspired and encouraged.
