The Coast

Mombasa has been great. I have really enjoyed my time here. Mombasa is on the coast of Kenya and has a totally different vibe than Nairobi, Kisumu and other Kenyan cities. It's not as crowded and people are more laid back. We found a great hotel for around $10 per person per night. The best feature is definitely the pool.

Being in Mombasa makes me feel like home. The weather right now is really nice. Not too hot or cold. It has rained a bit, but I like that. What makes me feel really at home is seeing all the palm trees.

While it reminds me of home, it is still very different. There is a tropical feel to this place. It's very green and has beautiful coasts and vegetation. Check out this little guy we found while walking back from the beach:

Mombasa is an old city with a lot of history. The center of town is crowded with many old buildings. There is a huge Arab influence here in the architecture and culture.

It has been nice spending time with George's sister, Suzy and niece Adehli. Here they are lounging on the beach along with Suzy's friend, Millicent.

For anyone spending time in Kenya, I highly recommend a stop in Mombasa.
