Merry Christmas...Happy New Years... Greetings from Moshi!
This letter was meant to be sent to you much earlier, but we had a little something, rather someone, that delayed it. Our daughter, Julia Mireya Orwa, arrived eight weeks early on December 26th, much to our surprise. The first days and weeks of her life were very scary and stressful, but we are happy to report that she is stable and thriving. Currently, she is nine weeks old and eight pounds, which is a big leap from the three and a half pounds she was when we brought her home. Going through this ordeal in a third world country that could offer her little to no medical intervention revealed to us in a very tangible way what an awesome, mighty God that we serve. It is truly a miracle that she survived, and we love to tell people about how God saved her in the midst of trying circumstances. You can read the whole story on my blog.
As for the rest of us, we are doing well. Eli is two and a half and such a joy. He is talking so much and constantly entertains us. Stacie has recovered from her c-section and is feeling strong. George is keeping busy with ministry work while holding our family together.
Speaking of ministry, 2014 was a challenging year for us as it seemed like many roadblocks were in our way. Looking back, we can see that the Lord was opening and closing doors as only His perfect timing and plan can do. The beginning of 2015 has been very busy so far. After two years of trying, we finally bought land for the Africa Harvest of Hope Children's Home. We have twelve acres and an exciting vision for what to do there. In early December 2014, we had a visit from our ministry leaders, Alan and Shannon Reed, and had a wonderful time with them. We were able to get a lot of ministry work done while having lots of time for fellowship and encouragement.
In March and August last year, George had the big blessing of volunteering with API's medical camps in Kenya. The August camp was in George's home village and was an absolute thrill as over 2100 people in his community were helped and hundreds came to know the Lord. While God has placed us in Tanzania for now, Kenya is still very much in our hearts and we love to help out there whenever possible.
Looking forward to the rest of the year in 2015, we will keep pressing forward with finalizing the land purchase and begin working on constructing the children's home. George will continuing teaching at and working with our church, Yesu Anaweza. While Stacie misses being able to be active in ministry, she recognizes her primary role is that of a mom and being a supportive wife right now. She'll keep doing the administrative work for the ministry while focusing on our home.
We are so thankful for the many ways we are encouraged and supported by you all in the US. We could not do this work without your love, emails, financial support, and prayers. For more information on our ministry and how to help, please visit our blog at www.thisisstaciesblog.blogspot.com. It's the best way to keep up with what is going on here as we update it frequently.
We would love your prayers for the following items:
1. Good health for us all, especially little Julia
2. Wisdom and strength for George as he deals with officials in regards to the orphanage
3. For Alan and Shannon Reed as they lead and raise funds for the ministry
We pray 2015 will be full of blessings and love from above.
With love from Moshi,
George, Stacie, Eli and Julia Orwa
