It has been a while since I have updated. That is because not too much new is going on. We are still in Nairobi working on preparations. Sabet is returning from Juba today. I pray he was able to get the paperwork we need to get the truck cleared. Once that is confirmed, we can start the massive shopping! We are starting to feel the time crunch. There is much to do before we go back to Sudan and we just have two and a half weeks left. We are hoping to take a short vacation at the coast next week, but that will depend on how much gets done this week.
Some of the outings we have done are:
Miniature golf and lunch at Village Market
Dinner at Havarsha – Ethiopian food. It was interesting. The atmosphere was great and the concept is neat, but it wasn't my favorite. They gave us a huge plate with a different dips and meat and then this spongy, thin bread stuff to scoop it up with. The beef was great, but the other things were a little funky. At least I tried it.
Vineyard church on Sunday... it was great. The worship time was wonderful.
Lunch and internet time at Java House (my favorite coffee/food shop with free internet) – it was the first time I have been able to view videos since being in Sudan. Has anyone seen “Janice It Hurts” on You Tube? So funny!
Shopping at Toi Market – “matumba” means second hand. All the stores in the malls are very expensive so most Kenyans shop at matumbas. Toi Market has tons of matumbas shops. We were only there for about 30 minutes, but I found a few skirts for $7 each and jeans for $13. There are a lot of good quality clothes. You just have to pick through them and bargain for a good price.
Thank you so much for your continued prayers. Among the many things we need to do are: confirm the truck is cleared, shop for all the supplies, load the truck, find a nurse/midwife, plumber and an electrician to go to Tonj and Sabet has to go to Uganda to sort out some stuff. Please also pray for the clinic, pastors school and compound in Tonj.
